Software-defined storage: The five 2013 predictions.

In 2012, flash was one of the most hyped technologies. There are millions of vendors trying to sell their array of hardware and using cash from consumers in order to maintain the business. However, not many vendors will survive because the market is consolidating. Besides, software-defined storage is also to blame. Very few enterprises need a high level of performance, besides, very few people are likely to purchase from the many beginners that are vending flash storage. Consumers find it wise to buy from established vendors like EMC and IBM. In simple terms, 2013 is likely to be the time for flash storage crash. Consolidation will lead to three or four vendors remaining, and the rest will crash due to more supply than demand.
